The cardigan requires 6 skeins of Jo Jo (it can also be made with Zen 4 ply) and 3 skeins of any DK weight yarn for the fair isle pattern. The pattern is written for women's sizes 32 (34, 36, 38) and is a "comfortable" fit. Click on the picture for the pattern.

MATERIALS:
1 Pair each of US straight needles, size #5 and #6
1 Large button
Color A: 6 Skeins Argosy Luxury Yarns, Jo Jo DK (for ALL sizes)
(Argosy Zen 4 ply may also be substituted)
Color B: 1 Skein Argosy Luxury Yarns, Zen 4 Ply
Color C: 1 Skein Argosy Luxury Yarns, Jo Jo DK

BACK:
1.Using Color B, cast on 100 (104, 110, 116) sts. on size 5 needles.Cut yarn and attach color A, work in K1P1 ribbing for 3.0 ins (about 22 rows).
2.Change to size 6 needles and Stocking Stitch.Work even for 2 rows.
3.Begin Fair Isle pattern, at the same time, begin waist shaping.Dec 1 st at each end of next row, then every following 6th row 6 (5, 6, 6) times to 86 (92, 96, 102) sts.Work even for 1.1 ins (about 9 rows).Inc 1 st at each end of next row, then every following 6th row 6 (6, 7, 7) times to 100 (106, 112, 118) sts.Work even for 1.9 ins (about 15 rows) to total 13.3 ins, excluding hem.
4.Armhole shaping.Cast off 5 (5, 5, 6) sts at beginning of next 2 rows.Dec 1 st at each end of every alternate row for 14 (16, 20, 22) rows until 76 (80, 82, 84) sts remaining.
5.Work even until armhole measures 8.3 (8.5, 8.8, 8.8) ins.
6.Shoulder shaping.Cast off 10 (11, 7, 7) sts at beginning of next 2 (4, 2, 2) rows.Cast off 11 (0, 8, 8) sts at beginning of following 2 (0, 4, 4) rows.
7.With 34 (36, 36, 38) sts remaining for back of neck, place sts on holder.
FRONT: Cardigan right side worked first.
1.Cast on 49 (51, 54, 57) sts on size 5 needles.Cut yarn and attach color A, work in K1P1 ribbing for 3.0 ins (about 22 rows).
2.Change to size 6 needles and Stocking Stitch.Work even for 2 rows.
3.Begin Fair Isle pattern, at the same time, begin waist shaping.Dec 1 st at outside edge of next row, then every following 6th row 6 (5, 6, 6) times to 42 (45, 47, 50) sts.Work even for 1.1 ins (about 9 rows).Inc 1 st at outside edge of next row, then every following 6th row 6 (6, 7, 7) times to 49 (52, 55, 58) sts.Work even for 1.9 ins (about 15 rows) to total13.3 ins, excluding hem.
4.Armhole.Dec for armhole at left end, as for back.
For size 34 and 36 only; Continue until armhole measures 0.3 ins with 46 (49), sts remaining.Continue armhole shaping until 18 (22) rows worked from beginning of armhole. At the same time,
5.Shape neck.Dec 1 st at neck edge (right end) of next row, then every 3rd row once, (5, 3, 5) then every 4th row 14 (11, 13, 12) times, until 21 (22, 23, 23) sts remain.
6.Work even until armhole measures 8.3 (8.5, 8.8, 8.8) ins.
7.Shoulder shaping.Cast off as for back.
8.Left cardigan front.Work as for right side, reversing shapings.
SLEEVES:
1.Using color B, cast on 44 (50, 52, 53) sts on size 5 needles. Cut yarn and attach color A, work in K1P1 ribbing for 2.5 ins (about 18 rows).
2.Change to size 6 needles and Stocking Stitch.Work even for 2 rows.
3.Begin Fair Isle pattern, at the same time, begin shapingInc 1 st at each end of every 6th row 13 (5, 10, 15) times, then every 8th row once (10, 6, 2) to 77 (80, 84, 87) sts (about 99 rows total, excluding hem).
4.Work even until sleeve measures 14.0 (14.1, 14.3, 14.5) ins (about 106 rows), excluding hem.
5.Shape cap.Cast off 5 (5, 5, 6) sts at beg of next two rows (67 (70, 74, 75)sts rem).Dec 1 st at each end of every row 3 (4, 5, 6) times, then dec 1 st at each end of every 2nd row 17 (16, 15, 14) times, then dec 1 st at each end of every row 3 (4, 5, 6) times.Cast off remaining 21(22, 24, 23) sts loosely.
SHOULDER SEAMS:
1.Sew fronts to back along shoulder seams.
BUTTON BAND / COLLAR:
-- worked in two pieces.Alternatively, you can work button band and buttonhole band together in one piece on circular needles.
1.Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men.Using size 5 needles pick up and knit 189 sts (approximately 6 sts for each 7 rows along cardigan front) between bottom of hem and center of back of neck.
2.Work in1x1 ribbingfor 9 rows.Cast off loosely.
3.Mark position for one button where the V-neck shaping begins.
BUTTONHOLE BAND:
1.Work buttonhole band as for button band, working buttonholes at the marked positions.Check your knitting reference book for techniques.
2.Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes.
FINISHING:
1.Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit.Sew side and sleeve seams.Sew any remaining seams.
